Great stuff in The Link this week. I always love to share some interesting reading from around the web for my friends. Some of these will encourage you, entertain you, and educate you a bit. Good weekend reading. Trust you enjoy your day in Christ today (Philippians 1:2).
The One Thing Guaranteed To End All Marriages – This is a reflection by Meg Wallace as her mom sent her the dreaded text, “the divorce is done.” She reflects on her dad and mom’s response to infidelity. This is a good read. Her main point: hardness of heart is the root of all failed marriages. Good read.
Grace to you and peace from God our Father,
and the Lord Jesus Christ.
– Philippians 1:2
You’re Not Yourself When You’re Sleepy – This research is from Science Daily and suggests what we all implicitly know: if you do not get enough sleep it hurts you in more than one way. They further report, “Additionally, a new study in the journal Child Development furthers our understanding of the connection between late night cell phone use, mental health, and disrupted sleep, finding that using a cell phone at night can increase depression in teenagers and lower their self-esteem.”
A Response to Eugene Peterson – I read several articles regarding Eugene Peterson and his statements related to homosexuality and same-sex marriage. Al Mohler does an outstanding job here responding to it. You’ll want to read this.
Run more…Eat less – A new study links exercise with appetite suppression. Contrary to popular opinion, exercise does not necessarily make you hungrier. They report, “But when the women had exercised, they produced more of the gut hormone that reduces appetite and ate less compared to when they hadn’t exercised.”
Fantastic Idea for A Date Night #GoodwillDateNight – Married or engaged – this may be a funny and hilarious date night. You do not have to go to Goodwill to do it. Shop at your local store that will help those in your community like Salvation Army or a local thrift store…but the date is the same. I haven’t done it yet, but I’m looking forward to it at some point. Check out the idea for a fun night out. Share your pictures with me if you do.
Ladies, This Article on Marriage is For You – I don’t prefer the name of this article or some of the crassness of her writing; however, it made me cry as I read it aloud to my brother as we rode somewhere together. This is not only for wives though, the idea could be applicable for husbands and parents in general.
‘Born this way’? It’s way more complicated than that – I’ve just run across this article from last month on USA Today. Plus, here is Al Mohler’s response to it as well. Both are interesting reads.
When Forgiveness Doesn’t Come Easy – Because you don’t know the totality of God’s providential plan, it is essential that you understand God is at work in your circumstances – even though you can’t see the totality of what God is doing. Instead of bitterness, resentment, and hatred, develop an attitude of forgiveness since you realize that both personal responsibility and the providential plan of God work together for your good and God’s glory.
