Have you ever had to stand up for yourself? Maybe because of both what was true and what you knew you needed to do, you had to take a stand. In fact, each time you have to take a stand whether that was in a discussion with someone, in a meeting, or in some kind of armed conflict, you do so in similar ways. You take a stand because of what you understand to be true and what you also understand you need to do. That was true when the greatest battles were fought in any wars, it is true today.

In one of my favorite verses of the Bible, the Bible author also calls on us to stand because of what we know and what we need to do. Let me explain.

Stand in Grace

The Apostle Peter writes to Christians in the midst of suffering because of persecution. They scattered from Jerusalem to all over Asia Minor. He finishes his book with these important words:

12 …I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand. (1 Peter 5:12)

Think back what I referred to at the beginning of this post: we take a stand based upon what we know and what we know we are supposed to do. Peter states the same thing. He testified what was true about the grace of God in the life of each believer (what was known) and exhorted each believer on what they should do in light of that (what they now know they are supposed to do). He then challenges them to stand! Basically, the grace God gives every believer should both motivate him or her to stand and provide the ability to do so.

Let God’s grace motivate and activate you!

Today as you face a new day and new week, let God’s grace motivate you to live for Jesus Christ today. Based upon everything the Jesus Christ has provided you, you can live in His honor today. You will be glad and others will be blessed.
