In one of my favorite verses of the Bible, the Bible author also calls on us to stand because of what we know and what we need to do. Let me explain.
Stand in Grace
The Apostle Peter writes to Christians in the midst of suffering because of persecution. They scattered from Jerusalem to all over Asia Minor. He finishes his book with these important words:
12 …I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand. (1 Peter 5:12)
Think back what I referred to at the beginning of this post: we take a stand based upon what we know and what we know we are supposed to do. Peter states the same thing. He testified what was true about the grace of God in the life of each believer (what was known) and exhorted each believer on what they should do in light of that (what they now know they are supposed to do). He then challenges them to stand! Basically, the grace God gives every believer should both motivate him or her to stand and provide the ability to do so.
Let God’s grace motivate and activate you!
