Peace! (#OneMinuteMondays)

Possibly your world is upside down right now. For sure as Christmas gets closer, the days pack full of activities, responsibilities, and obligations. In order to take a day or two off, many of us must work extra hard on all the other days to make it happen. The last word you may use to describe it is peaceful.

“Just a little peace would be nice.”

Have you ever heard that from someone? How about have you been the one?

In the world around us, many things and people offer you peace. Yet, peace is bigger than just a calm day or an absence of war. Peace relates to true “well being.”

The Prince of Peace

When Isaiah predicted the birth of Jesus Christ, he identified Jesus as the Prince of Peace:

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. (Isaiah 9:6-7)

Jesus, the Prince of Peace!

What Kind of Peace?

Peace on Earth, Goodwill toward men.

When Jesus arrived he provided a foretaste of the ultimate peace to come. But even today we can experience peace in Jesus Christ.

What kind of peace?

Salvation peace – in Christ, you can have a forgiven, eternal relationship with God (Rom 5:1).

Relational peace – in Christ, God brings people together offering them peace (Eph 2:14-18).

Inner man peace – in Christ, God settles your mind and heart in any circumstance when you walk with Him (Phil 4:6-9).

Future peace – in Christ, we have the promise of eternal peace, where Christ reigns and we get to worship Him forever (Isa 9:7).

Friends, today and this Christmas week, rest in your relationship with Christ. Enjoy the peace you have in Him.

Merry Christmas!
