God Will Deliver Us (#OneMinuteMondays)

As you begin a new week, no doubt your mind is similar to so many others and can’t help but think about the craziness going on all around each one of us – the Coronavirus COVID-19! Who would have ever guessed last Monday that we would be here and life would look like this?

No NCAA March Madness!

NBA? Gone

NHL? Gone as well

Broadway? Nope

Group meetings over 500 people? Better not be

Stock market plunge and madness? That too

On and on! Who would have guessed? Not me!

But here we are together. You know what? I don’t think it’s over yet.

Here’s my question for you: Are we going to make it? Yes, we will. We do not need to be afraid.

Lesson from Daniel

The three Hebrew young men were in Babylon, prisoners, away from home, away from their worship, and away from their people. The King said if they did not worship his almost 100’ statue, then they were going to be thrown into the fiery furnace. Here is their response:

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. 18 But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” (Daniel 3:16-18)

Notice what they said. “God is able to deliver us!” They knew that regardless of what happened, God was both trustworthy and powerful enough to deliver them. By death – delivered! In some other way – delivered! They trusted in God because He is trustworthy.

Related to the Coronavirus…

Today as you face another week, you can trust God as well. God will deliver you. If you have a personal relationship with Him through Jesus Christ and the forgiveness of your sin, God will deliver you. In life or even in death, you can trust Him and His deliverance. There is only fear in death if you do not have hope of eternity. The worse thing that can happen to any of us – death – is gain. These Hebrew guys understood they could trust God with eternity and that He would deliver. He will deliver you too! The Coronavirus is not to be feared. Go in grace and confidence this week.

(sorry, a bit longer than one minute today!)
