There’s a bunch of people who are tired. Maybe Cabin Fever. Possibly just worn out.
Homeschooling for some. Work at home for others. Disruption.
Life is different and possibly you are struggling to keep up. My work has changed for sure. I used to be busy. Now…feeling a bit underwater. :)
Weary in Well Doing
Paul writes to people who are challenged to use their energy in a way that serves people in love as they walk in the Spirit. We only have so much energy per day. God provides that energy for each of us in order to do good, love by serving, and walk in the Spirit. Look what Paul says:
7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 6:7-10)
The challenge for each of us: to not grow weary while doing good. As I mentioned above, God provides us energy every day and we are to use that energy in a way that honors the Lord while serving people in love. However, this is not always easy. I understand that because I live it. God understands that as well.
Benefits of Faithfulness – Doing Good Even While Weary
Therefore, God tells us what benefits are ahead if we will only obey Him and use our energy for what God intends to serve people in love.
- Trust God. God is not mocked. If you will do what you are to do, God will benefit you in the long-term (and short-term) for it. Being faithful in doing good is based upon trusting God in it. So you trust God and do good. As you do good, even though you are tired and it hurts, you trust God that God will do as He promised. God promises to be faithful to respond as He says He will. Which is what? You will reap benefits from trusting God and doing well. You will reap what you sow. So even when you are tired, do good. When you do good, God will help you reap the benefits from it.
- You will reap for your faithfulness. Paul says to us, “Do not lose heart.” He knows that we can so easily become discouraged. As we do, we tend to do less. While weary and tired, we tend to walk in the flesh instead of walking in the Spirit. Our response to being tired as Christians is often like the response to a two year old child who is tired. Sometimes I see it in my youngest child even now who is eight. When he gets real tired, it is easy to be more emotional. Actually, I think I see it in myself as well – that’s my point, right? As each of us tend to lose heart (become discouraged), we also tend to not do what we are supposed to do. We respond more from our emotions and flesh rather than walking in the Spirit and responding faithful.
- Therefore, do good! Because 1) God is faithful and 2) you will reap if you do not give in to your tiredness or flesh but instead do good in spite of how you feel, Paul challenges us to take the opportunity to do good. Look for those opportunities to be faithful to God and do good to others – and do them – even when you do not want to do so in the flesh but instead choose to do so as one who is walking in the Spirit.
Therefore, Do Good!
Friends, are you tired? Possibly.
Is this wearisome? Maybe for all of us.
But will you be better off if you do good? Absolutely.
Will God bless your faithfulness if you will just do good? Yes, He promises.
Is God trustworthy? Of course.
Therefore, when you are tired, continue to do good! Remain faithful. Do good and trust God that in the future you will benefit if you do not lose heart because God is faithful.

Your Part – Do good regardless of how you feel
God’s Part – He is faithful to reward you
Therefore, friends with all the grace God provides, in love do good to others even though you’re tired. God will do His part as well to bless you for it. You will reap if you do not lose heart.
