You are not alone. You can make it.
In the past day or so I have had a couple of conversations with some folks who are under it right now. They are physically, mentally, and spiritually exhausted. Day 51 as the national shutdown on many levels continues. Although things begin to open up, many are worn out even as they now have to get things up and going as they can.
Moms. Dads. Granddads. Grandmas. Husbands. Wives. Singles. Sons. Daughters. Across the spectrum people have suffered and continue to suffer. If you have some additional responsibilities then it gets even worse.
For some, life in pandemic has simplified. More time at home. More time with family. More time for projects. More time. For others, it has simply been merely just more. More responsibilities. More to do in the same amount of time. More, more, more.
Along the way, it is easy to feel overburdened, overwhelmed, and underprepared to handle it.
If this is you, you are not alone today.
God Is With You
God is with you today and cares. The psalmist writes:
7 Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,”
Even the night shall be light about me;
12 Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You,
But the night shines as the day;
The darkness and the light are both alike to You. (Psalm 139:7-12)
David states that no matter where he goes, God is there and is with him. No matter how high (the heavens), how low (hell), to the east (wings of the morning), or to the west (the sea), David recognized you cannot escape God’s presence. In fact, the darkest spots for us are as standing in the noon sun.
He continues:
17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You. (Psalm 139:17-18)
GOD THINKS ABOUT YOU AND IS WITH YOU.
People Around You Care As Well
One other thought to encourage you today. Even though the ones around you may not show it or you may not see it, the reality is the people around you care as well. In the midst of great suffering, it is easy to forget to tell those around you “Thank you” or “I see how hard you are working” or “I care about you.” Although they may not be saying it, do not let yourself believe that they do not care or do not pay attention to it. It is easy to believe you are alone as Elijah did in the midst of his great struggle as well (1 Kings 18-19). God reminded him as I do you today, you are not alone as well.
May God strengthen you as you live in Christ today.
