You Serve an All-Powerful God (#OneMinuteMondays)

Are you like me? Sometimes a word of encouragement goes a long way!

Maybe it is someone who provides a gracious comment. Possibly it is a special truth someone shares. At other times maybe it is someone rejoicing with you over a recent win. Of course it includes the occasional compliment of a spouse or of our children and grandchildren. All those kinds of comments are helpful and provide just an added boost.

Today as you start your day and week, let me give you one of those kinds of thoughts which will provide you the helpful word and added boost.

You Serve an All-Powerful God!

As Jesus walked with His disciples and taught them, Jesus taught them about Himself. On this particular day, Jesus fills it with this simple lesson ~ He is all-powerful.

Nature. In Luke 8, Jesus launches out with the disciples across the Sea of Galilee when a storm arises. The disciples believe they are all going to die. But instead, Jesus demonstrates power over nature. Luke reports: “And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, ‘Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!’” (Luke 8:25)

Demons. Jesus then meets a man in complete turmoil who is demon possessed. Jesus commanded the demons to leave him. Luke reports, And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him” (Luke 8:39).

Illnesses. Jesus was then touched by a woman with a twelve-year long blood disease and was immediately healed. “She declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately” (Luke 8:47-48).

Death. Finally, a twelve-year old girl died. Luke reports: “But He put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, ‘Little girl, arise.’ Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He commanded that she be given something to eat. And her parents were astonished, but He charged them to tell no one what had happened” (Luke 8:54-56).

Be Encouraged, Trust Him, and Have Faith Today

No matter what you are facing today, take time to be encouraged that Jesus is all-powerful! Trust Him. Have faith in Him.

You serve an all-powerful God. He demonstrated so long ago on a day filled with miracles. Nothing is different today. He is just as powerful, just as caring, just as compassionate, and just as interested in your life circumstances as well.

Today and this week, you can trust Him. As Jesus encouraged them, have faith and call out to Him this week. He’s got this.
