One passage reminds us that God intended for us to connect with others around us as we seek to follow Him. Consider this text:
12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, 15 while it is said:
“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” (Hebrews 3:12-15)
Did you catch this key phrase? but exhort one another daily
You Need Other People
You need other people to connect with you if you are going to keep yourself in a safe position. Do you realize that you need someone to reach out to connect with you if you hope to protect your heart from potentially becoming hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
In other words, you can’t trust your own heart. As the old song goes, “Prone to wander, Lord I feel it. Prone to leave the God I love.”
None of us can boast of such great spiritual maturity that we do not need the help of others. If we do, we are deceived already. The Bible states it clearly: lest you be deceived.
Other People Need You
Just as much as you need other people, those people need you as well. The conversation does not go one way – a conversation by nature goes two ways. Just as you can be deceived, so can others. You need the voices of other people in your life for the same reason they need yours.
God’s plan uses your voice in the lives of your friends. If you do not connect with others, they miss part of God’s protection for them.
Reach Out to Connect With Someone
On this Monday and throughout the rest of the week, please do not delay. Reach out to connect with someone who also loves Jesus. That other person needs you as much as you need them. In the process, may God receive the glory!
