I’m not sure to begin with Crazy Dreams … Wild Future or Wild Dreams … Crazy Future. But either way, they both are true.
Recently, I woke up from what seemed like some very long dream sequences over the night. Crazy dreams. The people. The places. After a little while, I had a hard time recalling all of it; however, the events took place over a combination of places all mixed together in a seemingly connected way. But as I thought of them, I was reminded of a wild future that’s yet ahead. Not a future as wild as my dreams, but instead, a future full of time with the individuals in my dream.
Crazy Dreams …
The dreams were associated around some familiar places of the recent past. Some of it involved Baptist Bible College, some Washington, D.C., and some of it included Ozark. All of these were mixed together seamlessly in the dream. They involved public speaking – not too crazy since I do it multiple times every week. Plus, thankfully, in these dreams I had both all my clothes and the right ones for the occasion. Evidently, they weren’t like my real crazy dreams. I don’t write about those – haha.
What made these crazy dreams was the fact that they were filled with one or two people still alive and a host of others who have been dead for years. It felt like a who’s who of the 1990s. Most of them were dear friends who I had the privilege of serving while I was a senior adult pastor.
When I woke up, Kelly was stirring some in the bed beside me. I immediately told her about the dear people I saw in the dream.
Their smiles. Hugs. Laughs. Personality. All these things were present as I dreamed of these dear people I love in my dream.
Convoluted events for sure – which is why I said I could call this Wild Dreams … Crazy Future.
Wild Future
Do I believe that dreams reveal the future to us? Absolutely not.
However, these dreams were filled with a few fellow followers of Christ that I know now and all kinds of fellow followers who have already died and gone to heaven.
As I woke up and realized how sweet their smiles were, to hear their voices, and feel their hugs, I immediately remembered that we have a wild future still ahead of us. We will share eternity together.
Just think about it. Eternity. Together.
Not alone of course, we will have Jesus and will worship Jesus together. Many of these folks I had the privilege to teach about heaven, comfort them as they were dying, and speak at their funerals. But their stories and my story continues to cross paths after this break. For an undisclosed amount of time in God’s timetable, we live separated by space. I live here on earth; they live in heaven. However, our wild future together awaits; the distance eliminated. In the wild future, either Jesus returns and brings those in Christ with Him or I die and join them. Either way, a wild future awaits filled with worship, fellowship, and never being separated again.
Jesus said, “I go to prepare a place for you…” (John 14:1-6).
Paul wrote, “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain” (Phil 1:21).
Paul also wrote, “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord” (2 Cor 5:8).
The resurrection of Jesus guarantees this. We call it our resurrection hope.
What about you?
Are you missing someone today who is in heaven? Just think. You also have a wild and crazy future together as well with our wonderful Savior. When you get to heaven, you will be reunited. Possibly, that person and many others will want to show you around, introduce you to others, or simply reflect on the wonders of Jesus with you. Who knows? It may take several years just to leave the feet of Jesus. Yet, eternity awaits.
How about for you?
