The Lord Deserves Our Praise!

On this beautiful Sunday morning in the Ozarks, we stop to proclaim once again, The Lord deserves our praise!

Consider this beautiful verse in Psalm 68:

The Lord deserves praise.
Day after day he carries our burden,
the God who delivers us. Selah. (Psalm 68:19)

Why does the Lord deserve praise?

In this psalm, King David leads the congregation in praise to God. More than likely, this celebration took place around either in conquering the city of Zion or moving the ark to Zion. In either circumstance, this psalm exalts God’s provision and deliverance. The greater psalm takes a look back at the history of Israel from the wilderness coming out of Egypt to the conquest of the land. A key thought – they look backward to see God’s covenant faithfulness to them.

Notice how this verse specifically says that God deserves praise.

The Lord deserves praise because He carries our burdens day after day!

This was true for them as God brought them along on their journey providing victories and protection.

Friends, it is also true for us today as well. God enables us to persevere, endure, and have joy along our own journey by His grace. No matter what you face today, you can honor God, take the next right step toward godliness, love your neighbor, and live for the glory of God.

How? Because God caries our burdens day after day.

No matter what you face today, God carries your burden.

You might think, “Well, Pastor Kevin, my burden seems so hard to carry!”

In your own strength, it for sure is. However, in the strength and grace of the Lord, He helps you. He promises His presence with you, provides you strength in your weakness, and loves you. As a follower of Jesus Christ, you enjoy all the benefits, provisions, and future inheritance of the saints. You are blessed.

Today, seek to do what is best because God caries your burden. Let’s begin by bringing praise to God!

As a bonus, check out the next verse:

Our God is a God who delivers;
the Lord, the sovereign Lord, can rescue from death. (Psalm 68:20)

One more reason – yes, God delivered them from death; however, He delivers you from death as well!
