3 Realities of the Resurrection Hope

3 Realities of the Resurrection Hope

This is the best day of the year for a follower of Jesus Christ! On this Resurrection morning, you can rejoice in 3 significant realities of the resurrection. As followers of Jesus Christ, celebrate these things! Rejoice together in the wonderful realities that are rooted deeply and solely in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

1. The Resurrection guarantees us eternal life, since death was defeated.

When Jesus resurrected from the grave, death was defeated forever. He was the first. Just as in Adam the sentence of death fell upon all men, in Jesus life can be given to all men. Why? Because Jesus defeated death. But, in Christ, we can be made alive. Now, that’s hope!

But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive” 1 Cor 15:20-22).

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26).

2. The Resurrection guarantees us life today.

The power of the resurrection – or what we call resurrection power – raised Jesus from the grave. We know through the Bible from where this power came. The Holy Spirit is the power behind the resurrection. And, guess what? As followers of Jesus Christ, that power is on you as well. Resurrection power! Through the Holy Spirit, you have the power to live in every moment for Jesus Christ. No matter what you face, where you are, what you have done, or who you are, the Holy Spirit provides you resurrection power to live in a way that honors God today. Now, that’s hope!

…that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.” (Ephesians 1:18-23; cf. 3:20-21)

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” (Rom 8:11).

…that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection…” (Phil 3:10).

3. The Resurrection provides reconciliation with God

Jesus went to the cross because of our sins and a wrath-bearing sacrifice was necessary. He was raised from the dead to provide for our justification or salvation. As the resurrected Savior, we can rest in the completed sacrifice. God accepted Jesus’ substitutionary sacrifice on the cross for each one of us. Since God did, we can enjoy the forgiveness of sin and be reconciled to God. Whereas, we deserved to be alienated from God forever, in Jesus, we can be reconciled to God. Now, that’s hope!

…It will be counted to us who believe in Him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification” (Rom 4:24-25).
