Awww, the Blessings of Friendship

Occasionally, it is good for each of us to pause our busy schedules and remind ourselves of the blessings of friendship. Life can be crazy – as you well know. Stress comes at us from every side. Yet, in life, we journey together as friends. A friend is a special person for many reasons. In God’s providence, He allows us to make connections with people who make our journeys more pleasant, doable, and fun.

Who is one of those people for you? Take a moment and think about that person – I will too.

Maybe there are several of those individuals in your life. If so, you are truly blessed.

The Blessings of Friendship

What would say are some of the blessings of friendship?

Two are better than one,
Because they have a good reward for their labor. (Eccl 4:9)

I was contemplating this recently and came up with this list:

  • Companionship
  • Encouragement
  • Protection
  • Help
  • Perspective
  • Wisdom
  • Fun
  • Laughter
  • Kindness
  • Support
  • Authentic conversation
  • Sanctification
  • Creativity
  • Partnership
  • Security
  • Satisfaction
  • A giver – not a taker
  • Christlikeness

What would you add?

As I consider specific individuals, I think of these and many more benefits of friendship.

More importantly, I think of the specific people.

What about you?

Do you provide all of those things for your friends?

Are you pleasant? Do you put the cares/needs/desires/goals of others as greater than your own?

At the end of the day, do you build into others?

I know I do benefit from godly friendships that are gifts from God.
