Eleven Years! And number 12 begins…
As I sit down to write this post, I am overwhelmed with gratitude and amazement at what God has allowed over the past many years. Eleven years ago, this blog began as a simple post to share biblical insights and encouragement when our community needed it most. Left in shock at the death of a child in our community, I desired to provide a word of help. The response was incredible then, and continues on today. In God’s kindness, the blog has grown from one to hundreds of posts where followers of Jesus Christ receive help for daily living. Reflecting on this journey, I am reminded of God’s faithfulness and the incredible support of each one of you.
Reflecting on the Journey
Over the past eleven years, we have tackled a wide range of topics, always striving to approach them with grace and biblical wisdom. From personal struggles to broader societal issues (which there seemingly has been many), each post has been an opportunity to share the love and truth of Jesus (John 14:6). One of the key lessons we have emphasized together is the importance of relying on God’s grace and wisdom in every situation (2 Corinthians 12:9; James 1:5). Hopefully we continue to grow in the writing process, which progressive sanctification should apply to as well.
Writing about where life’s circumstances and difficult topics intersect with God’s Word and our personal responses requires a balance of truth and compassion (Ephesians 4:15). We seek to navigate these challenges effectively by keeping our focus on our walk and growth in Jesus Christ (Col 1:25-29; Eph 4:1-6). As we have written, we strive to keep in mind, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” (Prov 3:5-6).
Gratitude for Your Support
Let me be clear, I initially write with my own thinking, encouragement, and edification in mind. As I write, it helps me. Then, I think of you – those who are part of our local church, those who are part of the body of Christ, and those in the community who are just interested.
None of this would be possible without you, the readers. At this point, millions of people have visited the site over the years. Your engagement, feedback, and support have been so encouraging. Whether you have been with us from the beginning or have just recently joined those who read, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude. Your passion and commitment to living out your faith encourages me every day.
Paul writes, “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy” (Phil 1:3-4). This verse perfectly captures my feelings as I reflect on the past eleven years. Your encouragement and prayers have been a source of strength and joy, and I am deeply grateful for each one of you.
Looking Ahead into This Year
As we step into the eleventh year of this blog, I am filled with a sense of anticipation and hope. As has been true in the past, there are many important conversations to be had, wisdom to be sought, and issues to be considered together. I am eager to continue exploring new topics and perspectives. The world continues to change rapidly, and it’s more important than ever to stay grounded in the truth of God’s Word. For the follower of Jesus Christ, the world is not getting any simpler. In fact, it seems like Paul’s warnings are truer now than ever (2 Tim 3:1-7).
As we are encouraged to do in Hebrews, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works” (Heb 10:24).
Your Input Is Welcome – Invitation to Share Your Thoughts
As we celebrate this milestone, I invite you to share your thoughts and reflections. What topics have resonated with you the most? What issues would you like to see explored in the future? Your input is invaluable, and I look forward to hearing from you. If you have questions you want answered, suggested topics, or just want to drop me a note, please use this link.
May God grant us another year of thought-provoking discussions, meaningful connections, and collective growth in Christ. Thank you for being a part of this journey. Together, may we continue to grow in wisdom for life in Christ together.
