Marvel at the Work of God’s Hands

As we begin a new week with an incredibly gorgeous September moon, take a moment to reflect. Even as I type this morning, I can see the reflection of today’s full moon on the water. Psalm 8:3-4 beautifully captures the awe of creation: “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?” These verses invite us to pause and reflect on the grandeur of God’s handiwork, particularly the celestial display of the moon and stars, which stand as timeless testaments to His creative power.

Take a moment today – and throughout this week – to intentionally consider the work of God’s hands. Step outside and lift your eyes to the night sky, where the moon glows with quiet brilliance, a few planets shine with luster, and the stars twinkle, each one set in place by the Creator’s command – each one, according to King David, the work of God’s hands. During the day, grab just ten minutes to go outside and feel the sun’s warmth on your face, which serves as a daily reminder of God’s faithful provision. Notice the vibrant colors around you – the beginning of the change of colors, the various greens of trees, the brilliant hues of flowers, and the soft pastels of a sunrise or sunset. Let the gentle breeze brush against your skin, reminding you of God’s presence in the smallest details of nature.

These elements of creation are not mere accidents; they are deliberate, intricate works of God’s fingers. God crafted the world around you to declare His glory and to draw us into worship. As you marvel at the heavens, the earth, and all that fills them, let your heart be stirred to gratitude. Further, let it lead you to much deeper humility. The same God who ordained the stars and created the heavens cares intimately for you. This week, make time to observe, reflect, and praise Him for the beauty and wonder of His creation. Let it anchor your soul in His majesty and love.
