Blog-A-D-Day-Thank-You-06.06.17

Today marks 73 years since D-Day.

I’m so grateful for all the men who bravely fought that day in spite of the incredible injuries & casualties. On June 6, 1944, more than 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline, to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. More than 5,000 Ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion. Although it started on June 6th, it took days to actually move everyone on shore in multiple waves of troop movement. More than 9,000 Allied Soldiers were killed or wounded, but their sacrifice allowed more than 100,000 Soldiers to begin the slow, hard slog across Europe, to defeat Adolf Hitler’s troops.[1]

Don’t miss this. They didn’t even know us but were willing to make a sacrifice for us.

I’m also grateful my Grandad lived & now 73 years later is still with us. He participated in the third wave of troops and is still reluctant to describe all that he saw there.

Today we celebrate all these men and women who were willing to sacrifice for all of us. We are so grateful! We also give glory to God for His kindness to bless their sacrifice and provide the victory to the Allies.

This picture of my Grandad is from World War 2.

This picture is from a recent wedding and includes my Grandad and all my siblings.

For him and to all the others, THANK YOU!
