Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23)

I want to introduce many of you to a newer song on the mercy of God. As I have recently written a few blogs that highlight the mercy or forgiveness of God, I thought it would be great to share with you one of my favorite songs on the mercy of God. In our daily worship, music helps put theological ideas and rich Scripture into our minds as we move throughout the day. Here is one song that will bless you. The lyrics are below.

VERSE 1
What love could remember no wrongs we have done
Omniscient, all knowing, He counts not their sum
Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

VERSE 2
What patience would wait as we constantly roam
What Father, so tender, is calling us home
He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

VERSE 3
What riches of kindness he lavished on us
His blood was the payment, His life was the cost
We stood ‘neath a debt we could never afford
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

CHORUS
Praise the Lord
His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness, new every morn
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

I often find myself humming this chorus to myself and reflecting on the great news that His mercy is more – stronger than darkness, new every morn, our sins they are many, His mercy is more!
