Do you face particularly hard pressures today? What about tough people? Is there someone who has made your life especially difficult? Possibly you have a trial or temptation that you face. Whatever the kind of pressure, it is easy to lose hope.
But in Christ, my friend, there is hope!
Hope in the Finished Work of Christ
The Apostle Paul delivers great news for any of us facing tough circumstances, stubborn sin, and a discouraged heart.
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. (Romans 5:1-2)
You do not want to miss the hope that is yours through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. A popular song speaks to the cross having the final word. Here, the cross does. Because of the cross you have a living hope.
How Jesus Christ Provides You Hope in Your Situation
Jesus paid for your sins by His sacrifice on the cross. Your sins are no longer counted against you. When you asked for forgiveness of your sins and was justified, which means God declared you innocent of your sins, you received peace with God. Why? Because Jesus’ blood which was shed on the cross sacrificially paid for your ransom. You now enjoy peace with God through Christ and experience peace with God.
Furthermore, you now stand in the grace of God. Have you ever gotten your feet wet walking across a parking lot? Why did you get wet feet? Because you were standing in water. Here Paul says you stand in grace. Your sin does not separate you from God. You stand in grace!
Whatever you face today, this grace sustains you. The grace provides you hope. You have a good future secured in Jesus Christ when He ultimately provides for your glorification.
In your day today, you have hope!
