Do you ever want to be accepted? Wonder if you are loved? Are there times when you think that possibly you have gone too far this time and maybe God is angry at you or, even worse, hates you? Ever feel like you are a second-class citizen in the kingdom of God? Do you ever feel like God does not love you?
I hear these and many, many other feelings and questions similar to these on a regular basis in seeking to help and encourage people. Because of guilt, shame, particular thoughts, long-standing sin, inordinate desires, certain feelings, or some combination of all of those, many Christians question, doubt, and generally wonder what God thinks or feels about them.
There is good news today as you begin your day and week.
“…In whom I am well pleased.”
Recently I read through Jesus’ baptism again. Slowly read through the account from Matthew:
16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:16-17)
Jesus Christ well pleases God. God is completely satisfied with His Son. On more than one occasion God made this abundantly clear, like at the transfiguration (Matt 17:5; cf. 2 Pet 1:17-18). Jesus Himself referenced God’s good pleasure with Him as well (Matt 12:18; cf. Isa 42:1).
You are Accepted in Christ.
