Fear.

Probably the word that captures the heart of people all over the United States (maybe the world). As children begin school, the hearts of parents, teachers, school support staff, and administrators struggle with worry, fear, and anxiety. Whether learning from home or in person in a building, all the caregivers (much more than the students) seem to wait with baited breath as we anticipate something. We do not know what.

Add to that both the normal and abnormal pressures of the past eight months where the world was thrust into a pandemic. The economy was forced shuttered. People wonder if they will make it financially. Health concerns – on top of the normal health concerns. Plus the virus itself. Although some sound cavalier toward the virus, the vast majority of people neither want to suffer with COVID-19 nor accidentally pass it along to others.

Plus the election. A presidential election year is already fraught with pressure as the country takes sides and worldviews compete for power. But this year there is more. Across the nation in key large cities streets fill with rioters, cities burning, innocent people hurt and murdered, and children suffering – even executed while playing outside on a sidewalk. Brownouts, blackouts, and raging fires in northern California. All this going on and a Capital where people are talking about mailboxes and the USPS.

As school starts at home, in school buildings, and some admixture of the two, these are real concerns. Then consider the rest of normal. House, car, rent, and insurance payments. Health issues, Safety issues. Relationship pressures. Friendship woes. Life.

Enter God

Our only hope in this time is God. Consider the following passages:

No one is holy like the Lord,
For there is none besides You,
Nor is there any rock like our God. (1 Sam 2:2)

For who is God, except the Lord?
And who is a rock, except our God? (Ps 18:31)

Trust in the Lord forever,
For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength. (Isaiah 26:4)

God is the One we can and must trust. He is the Rock we stand upon. He is faithful.

You can trust Him. Call out to Him. Pray to Him. He will never leave you nor forsake you (Josh 1:5).

Jesus came to earth as a demonstration of His love, compassion, and mercy. He took God’s eternal wrath upon Himself to provide for our sins. He faced all the pressures we face and now offers us help, grace, and mercy (Heb 4:14-16). He continues to love and serve us even now.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)

You can trust Him. Call out to Him. Pray to Him. Choose to believe. Be encouraged in Christ.

Truth I’m Standing On by Leanna Crawford

I was recently introduced to this new song by Leanna Crawford. You will profit from listening to this song and reading the lyrics below.

She reminds us of the truth we are standing upon during these times.

Truth I’m Standing On Lyrics

Scared, oh I thought I knew scared
Now I’m so filled with fear
I can barely move
Doubts, I’ve had my share of doubts
But never more than right now
I’m wondering where are You
I’m on the edge of fall apart
But somehow Your promises
Find my troubled heart
This is the truth I’m standing on
Even when all my strength is gone
You are faithful forever
And I know You’ll never
Let me fall
Right now I’m choosing to believe
Someday soon I’ll look back and see
All the pain had a purpose
Your plan was perfect all along
This is the truth I’m standing on
Good, I believe You’re still good
Even when life’s not good
I will not loose this hope
The God who parts the sea
Promises He’s gonna
Make a way for me
This is the truth I’m standing on
Even when all my strength is gone
You are faithful forever
And I know You’ll never
Let me fall
Right now I’m choosing to believe
Someday soon I’ll look back and see
All the pain had a purpose
Your plan was perfect all along
This is the truth I’m standing on
My rock my shield my firm foundation
I know I will not be shaken
You remind me
Where my help comes from
This is the truth I’m standing on
Even when all my strength is gone
You are faithful forever
And I know You’ll never
Let me fall
Right now I’m choosing to believe
Someday soon I’ll look back and see
All the pain had a purpose
Your plan was perfect all along
This is the truth I’m standing on
