Today is Labor Day. Quick question, do you ever get tired of work? At times the work/rest cycle can leave you exhausted no doubt – especially the work side of it. Some people live to work. Others work to live. Some love the opportunity to get up every day and get started working. Others hate the thought of one more day on the job.
Why the various attitudes regarding work? Several factors influence one’s attitude toward work. Let me suggest a few key factors: the job itself, the hours, other pressures at home, the management structure, the customers, the demands, particular coworkers, and health. No doubt these factors heavily influence whether one enjoys working or does not enjoy the task.
Regardless if we enjoy our particular job or not, we must all glorify God in it.
Glorify God in All Things, including Work
The Apostle Paul gives us one of the broadest passages in the Bible related to doing things for the glory of God:
31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)
Here, the Apostle Paul challenges us to do all things – whatever you do – to the glory of God. Friend, this of course would include our work. We must do everything to the glory of God – regardless of the place, the hours, the customers, the supervisor, or any other factor.
What are some ways you can bring glory to God at work?
