Any day there is just one thing that you need to focus on is a better day – even if that thing is a challenging one.

Most days the list of concerns and responsibilities pile high. Many of us struggle keeping priorities straight. We ask questions related to what we should do now and do next.

Similar to the dogs in the Pixar movie UP, all kinds of things can act as squirrels and catch our attention. As they do, our distraction moves us away from what should be our priorities.

But what if there is one thing we should do? What if we can narrow it down to just one thing?

This ONE Thing…

The Apostle Paul actually helps us understand one thing we should work on today and every day. He writes:

27 Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel, 28 and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God. (Philippians 1:27-28)

Here in the translation, the word Only means Just one thing. One thing we are to do as citizens of heaven: live in a manner that is consistent with the gospel of Christ.

Living Consistent with the Gospel of Christ

Paul clarifies our responsibility as followers of Christ for us. One thing – live consistent with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ provides the pattern for the way we are to live today.

How do you face the challenges in your life today? As consistent with Christ

What do you do when people challenge your faith either with their attitude, words, or actions? As consistent with Christ

How do you view those around you with whom you disagree? As consistent with Christ

What do you focus on throughout your day? As consistent with Christ

ONE thing: live consistent with the gospel of Jesus Christ today and throughout this week.
