The first Monday of a new year! Here we go again!

Think about the Opportunities

Friends, think about the opportunities before us. Some of us are already back to work; others enjoy the last day or days of vacation. Whichever it is for you, this is the first Monday of 52 Mondays in 2022. Those 52 Mondays reflect the year before us. For many, Mondays seem to be the hardest day of the week. When you search the word “Monday” online, many pictures come up that simply say, “I hate Mondays.”

Why? For many, they start a new week of work where they have less freedom, feel it in their bodies more, and are at the beck-and-call of others more. Maybe. I don’t really know. Probably every individual has his or her own reasons for hating Monday. This, in fact, is why I started writing #OneMinuteMondays – to provide a quick word of Christ-centered, Bible-based motivation for all of us as we get started on Mondays.

Back to the issue of opportunities. Throughout this next year, we have 52 opportunities to start the work week. This is number one of those.

I wonder what God has in store? Who knows at this point. Yet, we know that unless Christ returns, we have 52 of these this year to get started on the right path for a week (and this Monday a year) that honors the Lord, serves His children, and lives in light of the Gospel.

Consider this One Verse… Maybe Three :)

The one verse where my mind often settles is, “Whether therefore you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Cor 10:31).

Everything for the glory of God. Every Monday for the glory of God.

This verse provides light for the opportunities before us. All of them for the glory of God.

Consider these two verses as well: “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving” (Colossians 2:6-7).

As those who follow Christ, those who have received Christ, our goal daily is to walk in Him.

This is especially helpful for Mondays because it describes us walking in the faith and abounding in thanksgiving. What?

That’s the opposite of how many of us face our Mondays. Yet, as we embark on the journey of 52 2022 Mondays, we do so today striving to walk in Christ, rooted in Christ, grateful for the opportunities, and committed to the glory of God.
