Morning. Monday morning. Two strikes. ;) We better begin with some Monday Morning Focus.

What should we remember on this Monday morning? Let me suggest a reminder from Jesus’ conversation with His disciples after His resurrection and before He left earth in the ascension. Here is what He says; let me help you with the significance of it.

Jesus – to the Disciples

Listen in as Jesus talks with the disciples…

Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And you are witnesses of these things. Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” (Luke 24:44-49)

What is the significance of what Jesus said for your Monday?

Let me list you the significance of what Jesus said.

  • Jesus pointed to the Scriptures first. He helped them understand those. In order to live life the way that honored Him, it began with comprehending the Scriptures. For us as well. Get in the Bible, read it, contemplate what you have read, and pray. Do it a little at a time, over and over again. Start in one book and continue there until you understand that book. Try a New Testament book this week like from Paul Ephesians, Philippians, or Colossians, or from Peter 1 Peter.
  • Jesus shares the three important elements of the Gospel (about which I’ll write more this week). First, Jesus had to come and die. Second, He arose the third day as the victorious substitutional atonement. Third, He calls every person to proclaim to others the necessity to repent for the remission of sins.
  • Jesus explains that disciples have the power to be a faithful witness through the Holy Spirit. The Spirit empowers you to both share the Gospel and live the Gospel.

What about this Monday? What should be our Monday Morning Focus?

Get in the Word and consider it. Remember the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Then, go live and share it with people through the power of the Spirit.
