You Never Know When You Will Need It

This weekend I have the privilege to travel to the Winterset / Des Moines, Iowa area where I get to participate in the 6th Annual Fall Refuge Banquet. The Refuge’s mission is to provide hope and help for men who are enslaved by alcohol and drug addictions. Their goal is to see men set free from the bondage their addictions have caused in their lives. The foundation of their program is the belief that God’s Word and the power of the Gospel hold the true, lasting victory to overcome these additions. The offer a residential program, a local gospel recovery program, and addiction counseling. The program is led by CJ McMurry and Ben Funkhouser. You can learn more about all their ministries at this LINK. The Fall Banquet is hosted at Saylorville Church in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday evening, November 12th, 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm.

I had the privilege of getting to know CJ and Ben at a Gospel Recovery conference in Branson, Missouri. I listened to CJ’s story while sharing some ice cream on the famous Highway 76. His story is powerful and describes how God radially saved him out of addiction as well. He has taken his own personal experience and walk with the Lord to help many others who need it as well.
