We interrupt our normally scheduled post… for this GREAT Reminder!

We interrupt our normally scheduled post for this simple reminder today. As I traveled this morning for a day trip, I was reminded of this important truth. Even when the skies in your life are gray and things seem so dark, don’t forget that the sun is shining brightly above the clouds.

The sun reminds us of God’s faithfulness, His mercy, and His grace. The sun runs its circuit every day from the east to the west as proof of God’s power, covenant faithfulness, and trustworthiness. When life seems dark and gray, when things seem to be out of control, when you are having a hard time seeing the light, God knows, God cares, and God is faithfully working His providential plan for your good. Even when you cannot see what God is doing from your vantage point and cannot see the sun from the cloud cover, don’t forget. It is still shining, still faithful, and still on God’s providentially planned track.

The psalmist reminds us of this important truth:

The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork.
Day unto day utters speech,
And night unto night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech nor language
Where their voice is not heard.
Their line has gone out through all the earth,
And their words to the end of the world.

In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,
Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
And rejoices like a strong man to run its race.
Its rising is from one end of heaven,
And its circuit to the other end;
And there is nothing hidden from its heat. (Psalm 19:1-6)

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19:14)
