A Year Passes, and Faithfulness Remains by Howard Eyrich

I can’t believe another year has passed. Time flies when we’re fully engaged in following Him with beloved friends.

What a year 2025 has been. Culturally, it has been marked by uncertainty, division, and rapid change. Many feel the strain of fractured relationships, institutional instability, and an ever-present sense that the ground beneath us is shifting. Even within Christian spaces, disagreements and realignments have revealed both our fragility and our need for something firmer than ourselves.

Yet in the midst of all this, God has not changed. He continues to prove Himself faithful as we acknowledge Him and trust Him to make our paths straight (Prov 3:5-6). His goodness is often more complex than we expect, but it is never absent (Lam 3:22-24). Even when the waters are rough, His hand remains steady. He is our always present, covenant-faithful God (John 16:33).

So, let’s continue the journey in 2026. We cannot anticipate where the next year brings us, but we can anticipate His faithfulness that the Captain of our ship will be on duty 24/7/365. While I’d love to wish us nothing but happiness in the new year, that would be an allusion. But that we can have His peace in the storms and bathe in the light of His glory, I am certain.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, therefore I will hope in him” (Lam 3:22-24).

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
