Every day of the year we live out of or from our doctrine, that is, what we believe impacts the way we live. Add the truth that we all have desires as well in the midst of those beliefs and you understand the dynamic of life for every human. Beliefs and desires co-mingled in the heart, fighting for control, influencing our emotions, and impacting our behavior. Welcome to life.
On this day that we honor Mothers, there are four essential beliefs or areas of doctrine that every woman needs to remember. They will help you. You will be blessed by them. Regardless of who you are ladies or your particular circumstances, these doctrines provide you what you need for today and every day.

Essential Doctrines
God loves you.
Maybe the most powerful three words ever, “I love you.” Those are the words that God has for you today. Regardless of who you are, what you currently are doing, whether or not you have had children, the status of those children, or anything else, God loves you today. He demonstrated it in the past by sending His Son to earth to make it possible for you to be forgiven of your sins and to live for eternity with Him. You are loved!
This is how Paul the Apostle explains it. He writes, “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?…Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:31-39).
In another book of the Bible he writes, “that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” (Eph 3:17-19).

God has a plan for you.
On this Mother’s Day, I do not know where you are, what is going on in your life, or any of the other details in your life, but God does. All along the spectrum this is true – God has a plan and has not forgotten you. Some reading have hurts and concerns that weigh on your heart and soul today. You wish you could have either written God’s plan for you in the past differently or you wish you could write it for the future. You have things that touch you dearly and for which you have many concerns going forward.
God’s plan includes you and your circumstance. God says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jer 29:11). God meant these words when He sent them to the captives in Jeremiah’s day. These words demonstrate God’s character and are no less true for you today. God has a plan that includes you and your children and grand children if God has provided any to you (Ps 139:16).
God helps you and is with you.
You are not alone. God is with you. Jesus Christ is with you. The Holy Spirit is with you. God controls all things as the sovereign God Who has a plan. Jesus Christ comforts you and provides you peace. The Spirit empowers you to do everything God desires for you to do. In every way, the Godhead works for you, helps you, and never leaves you.
The writer of Hebrews writes this to you. “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Heb 13:5-6, emphasis mine).
God waits with you.
Whatever your circumstances in life, stage in life, your past, your present, or your future, you need to know that God waits with you. Jesus Christ understands you. He gets you. On your best days and on your worst days, you are known and loved. God walks with you through it. He demonstrates patience, understanding, and perseverance. Jesus’ wrath-bearing, sin-forgiving, love-demonstrating sacrifice on the cross provides for God’s patience toward you.
But He is not just patient. He also helps while He waits. Read these these verses from Hebrews and let this sink into your heart. “Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted” (Heb 2:17-18).
“Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb 4:14-16).
Implications for Your Mother’s Day and Every Day
Love well
Because you are so loved by God, seek to love well. As a son and husband, I have watched a mom love her children. I sometimes wonder if dads are even capable to love as fervently, fiercely, or passionately as moms. Seek to take your natural love as a mom and make it a supernatural love. Look to Jesus who loves perfectly and seek to share that same love.
Trust God
God does have a plan for you. If you have had children, have children, or will have children, God has a plan for them as well. Trust Him with you. Trust Him with them. The Old Testament godly man Job reflected on God’s plan when he said, “I know that You can do everything,
And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You” (Job 42:1). God actively works His plan according to His holy, righteous character. You can trust Him.
Walk with God
God never leaves you or forsakes you. God, Jesus Christ, and the Spirit all walk with you through life. Seek to walk with them as well. The people around you need you to walk with God. Enjoy His presence. Embrace His help. As James wrote it, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:7).
Receive His comfort
In life, this is true: many things potentially make you worry, fear, be sad, and be concerned. You past provides opportunities for need of comfort. Today, your circumstances may need a comforting word. Because of what you may know or think that you know, your future may beg for a word of comfort. Dear lady, God provides you His presence and comfort today. Take time to receive His comfort.
Be renewed by His strength
God strengthens you. The power of the Holy Spirit resurrected Jesus, sat him on the throne in Heaven, put all things under His feet, and made Him the head over the church (Eph 1:19-23). That incredible power works in you as well! You have the power of the Spirit – resurrection power – flowing through your inner man. Recognize it. Reflect on it. Be renewed by it.
Live and speak the Gospel
As you go, live and speak the Gospel around and to others. The devil would love nothing more than your circumstances to discourage you, dishearten you, or distract you. Satan desires for you to get hung up in all the details of your life. He wants you to doubt, be cynical, and fail to receive all that God has for you, fail to see all God has done for you, and miss all that is yours in Christ.
My dear friend, embrace this doctrine for the truth it conveys, for the God it demonstrates, and for the power of God-honoring endurance it provides. Enjoy your God. Then, go enjoy your life. May God be honored in your responses to it.
