Jesus taught God cares even for the sparrows.

As we attend worship service with the family of God either through in-person service or online, we have great confidence in the providence of God.

What do we know about God?

We can trust Him.

Psalms 103:19
The Lord has established His throne in heaven,
And His kingdom rules over all.

Psalms 145:17
The Lord is righteous in all His ways,
Gracious in all His works.

Job 11:7-9
7 “Can you search out the deep things of God?
Can you find out the limits of the Almighty?
8 They are higher than heaven—what can you do?
Deeper than a]”>[a]”>aa]”>]Sheol—what can you know?
9 Their measure is longer than the earth
And broader than the sea.

Nehemiah 9:6
You alone are the Lord;
You have made heaven,
The heaven of heavens, with all their host,
The earth and everything on it,
The seas and all that is in them,
And You preserve them all.
The host of heaven worships You.

Matthew 10:29-31
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

You Can Trust God with Your Day, Your Life, and Your World

It is easy to allow fear, worry, and anxiety to creep up into your life, isn’t it?

In today’s world, issues related to COVID-19, education, politics, and riots can make one unsettled.

If you add to that something more specific in your world such as a health issue, relationship issue, or other types of pressure, you will find that trust in the providence of God can be rooted out. Your mind easily can settle on other issues rather than the deep-seated foundation of God’s character. Rather than resting in the providence of God, you might find yourself struggling with getting any kind of rest at all. Your soul will be upset by the things you cannot control.

I speak from both my experience as a pastor and as a fellow Christian. I’ve experienced this at times in my own life as well as talked with so many in this same place. When your world gets upended or there seems to be more things further out of your control than normal, it is easy to become unsettled, a bit anxious, and a little worried.

My friend, if that is where you are, look to the providence of God. Consider how He providentially works. Rest in His power, care, concern, and control. Although it feels out of sorts to you, it is not to Him.

Today, as you worship with your church family, listen for truth that helps you trust even greater in the providence of God. Take the truth to heart. Possibly through your worship today, you will trust and rest even more in the providential control of our great God and Heavenly Father.
