As I laid down for bed last night, one word kept ringing in my ears – HOPE.

Yesterday I enjoyed some particularly deep conversations. A young mom. Middle-aged dad. Teenager. Counselor.

As each conversation ended, I grew more and more convinced that each of them needed a bit a hope – or lots of hope.

Whoever you are today, whatever you face, and whatever your challenges, just know this – there is hope.

HOPE from Three Directions

As I woke up this morning and just sat meditating on hope, I was impacted from three different directions. My question was, “From where do I receive hope this morning?” Let me share with you the three streams.

  1. Christ. Jesus provides hope this morning. As a follower of Christ, there is so much hope He offers. As followers, we are in Him today. He sits in Heaven as our Great High Priest ready to offer as much grace as we need. His atoning work on the cross provides for our covering today. When we sin, He graciously covers it. His presence is with us. No matter what we face, He remains our brother in suffering. While on earth, He too faced every pressure-filled circumstance as we. He faithfully endured them and now provides us help and offers us hope as we seek to endure them as well.
  2. Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit also provides us hope today. He indwells and empowers us. As kids we used to love singing that there is “Power in the Blood.” We would add extra words Power in the chorus. There is “Power power power power, power power power power wonder working power in the blood of the Lamb.” Singing that song that way was always so much fun. I am so grateful it is true. As an adult though, I know it is also true of the Holy Spirit. He provides for us that much power today to honor God – grace that is up to the challenge.
  3. The Scriptures. Where would we be without the Bible’s testimony to us? In it we read about the precious promises that sustain us in whatever troubles or pressures we fact today. It may be circumstantial for you. For many, your pressures include responding to someone else’s sin. For lots of us, our own sin. Whatever it is, God’s Word provides us just what we need to lift our souls.

Hope For You, Me, Us

Today, wherever –  whatever – whoever… Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Word of God loudly proclaim to you today that there is hope. Not general hope but hope for you. Not a little hope but ginormous hope that can get you through the situation.
