Good News! Jesus Is Right On Time
In John 11:14-15, Jesus declares, “Lazarus is dead, and for your sake I am glad I was not there, that you may believe. But let us go to him.” These words reveal the heart of a Savior who works beyond human timing, orchestrating moments for divine purpose. Lazarus’ death seemed final, yet Jesus saw it as an opportunity for everyone’s faith to grow, as well as to bring God glory. His seemingly long delay was not neglect, but rather, a deliberate act to display God’s glory, working to strengthen initially the disciples’ belief, but also the faith of Mary and Marth, and eventually the faith of His followers throughout the ages. In fact, there is good news! Jesus is right on time.
Earlier this weekend, while online, an old song by the McKameys was suggested for my viewing. I did not know the song or really even the group. Yet, what a powerful song. The song “He’s Right on Time,” sung by Peg McKamey, echoes the truth of John 11. Its lyrics remind us that God’s timing is perfect, even when circumstances appear hopeless. Lazarus’ sisters, Mary and Martha, grieved, expecting Jesus sooner. Yet, He arrived precisely when God’s power would shine brightest, when he ultimately raised Lazarus from the dead. This miracle deepened everyone’s faith, plus, more importantly, proved Jesus holds authority over death itself.
Life often mirrors this scene. We face delays, unanswered prayers, or situations that feel like endings. We wonder where God is. John 11 teaches us that Jesus is never late. His timing aligns with His purpose – to grow our faith and reveal His glory. When we trust Him, even in the darkest moments, He works for our good.
Peg McKamey’s song encourages us to hold fast: God sees, knows, and acts at the right moment. Lazarus’ story is ours – God steps in when hope seems lost, turning mourning into joy. As Jesus said, “Let us go to him.” He calls us to follow, trusting His plan. What situation are you facing? Whatever they are, trust that Jesus is right on time, working to strengthen your faith and reveal His glory. Surrender your timeline to Him. Reach out to Him in prayer: “Lord, help me trust Your perfect timing. Strengthen my faith when I cannot see Your plan. Let me rest in Your promise to work all things for my good. In Jesus Name, Amen.”

They said for Jesus, your friend’s about to die
But tarried He, still on behind
So they laid Lazarus in a tomb
And said their last goodbye
Then coming down the road was Jesus right on time
Just hold on my child because He’s not too far away
And He knows your need before you pray
So when your feet are weary
From the mountain you have climbed
Look ahead, here comes Jesus right on time
I’ve struggled through life’s deserts
They were so hot and dry
‘Til it seemed all hope was gone and I would die
And I’ve wondered where was He
Is He still a friend of mine
Then coming down the road was Jesus right on time
Just hold on my child because He’s not too far away
And He knows your need before you pray
So when your feet are weary
From the mountain you have climbed
Look ahead, here comes Jesus right on time
So when your feet are weary
From the mountain you have climbed
Look ahead, here comes Jesus right on time
